Kwinana Industries Council (KIC), in partnership with Murdoch University, presents a program that provides Year 10 students with the opportunity to explore and understand the breadth of industry in the Kwinana Industrial Area (KIA) and the broad range of career options available.

The program highlights the commitment Kwinana industry has to engaging students in the workforce, providing an opportunity for them to see what industry really looks like.  As a part of a group the students identify employment and career pathways in this significant industrial region of Western Australia.

This Project is for Year 10 students intending to follow ATAR bound Science, Math and Technology subjects during Years 11 and 12, and considering University at the end of Year 12.

The program:

  • gives the opportunity to explore and understand the breadth of industry in the KIA and the broad range of science based career options available;
  • highlights the commitment industry has to engaging students in the workforce, providing an opportunity for students to see what industry looks like from the inside; and
  • provides valuable information and awareness of the Science, Math and Technology courses at Murdoch University.  There is also the opportunity to meet lecturers and students.

Held over six days in Term 3, students visit a range of working environments within the KIA to meet current employees in a number of science based roles.  Students participate in workshops which cover resume preparation, interview techniques, social media and presentation skills.  Students also experience hands-on science activities as part of their visit to the Murdoch South Street campus.
