Members of the Kwinana Industries Council are committed to ensuring the safety of the local community.
Industry across the Western Trade Coast works collaboratively with emergency authorities, government and other stakeholders to build emergency response capabilities and preparedness.

KIMA Radio and Route
KIC operates an emergency notification and response system, called the Kwinana Industries Mutual Aid (KIMA).
Established in 1990, KIMA ensures that adjacent sites receive early warning of an incident which may impact their site and operations.
KIMA comprises a radio network and an emergency access/egress route that facilitates the exit of workers or the entry of emergency responders along the entire length of the heavy industrial area. The radio network provides early warning to neighbours of issues and hazards, helps coordinate emergency responses, and to notify when the threat has passed.
Key Elements of KIMA
Emergency Assistance Agreement
KIMA members are committed to maintaining their own emergency response capability and to provide assistance to other companies if required.
Emergency Radio
The Kwinana Industries Council operates an emergency radio communication system on behalf of members to allow for information about incidents and risks to be easily and quickly shared.
Emergency Access Routes and Signage
Clearly signposted emergency access routes link KIMA member companies to provide access during incidents.
KIMA Resource Manual
Each KIMA member has copies of the KIMA Resource Manual. This manual provides information on how KIMA works and has details of the emergency response equipment owned by each company.
Mitigation Strategies
The KIC, in partnership with local authorities and first responders, conducts regular tests, exercises and preparedness activities.
