What is EmployLink?

It is very important for the industries located within and around the Kwinana Industrial Area (KIA) that the range of workforce skills is maintained, and that it grows with industry as it expands. We explain why this is under the ‘Skilled workforce synergy dimension’, which is described here. There are several ways for us to achieve this;

• such as, putting effort into helping to focus the region’s young people on possible careers in industry – we are doing that (see link to the Education Development Program)
• or perhaps, providing a simple way to assist people with the needed skill sets to let industry’s human resource managers know that somebody like yourself is available for consideration.  You might be a FIFO worker who is tired of the disruption of the shift arrangements and wants to work locally.
• or say, when, for whatever reason a company needs to downsize, some employees may be facing redundancy.  Rather than lose these experienced people and their skillsets from the KIA workforce, wouldn’t it be better that there’s some way for them to re-distribute into other KIA industries?

On this latter point, the problem is how do you, the employee facing redundancy, let other KIA industries know that you’ll be ‘in the market’?  That’s where KIC’s new EmployLink platform comes in.
