From the CEO’s Desk

Read the latest edition of the KIC member newsletter – InFocus. Each month we look forward to sharing you the news, activities, and events across the KIC. Each month we look forward to sharing with you the news, activities, and events across the KIC.

Welcome to the June edition of KIC InFocus.

What a month it has been – from a visit to Kwinana from the Chinese Premier, an important discussion with members on cyber security, to welcoming new members to KIC.

We also have a full schedule of events planned for the remainder of the year to share information, build networks and discuss strategic issues.

Starting this month, we will launch the “KIC Insight Series” which will allow our full members to have direct conversations with senior government ministers and decision makers. We kick off the series with a lunch with the Director General of JTSI, Rebecca Brown, and the Coordinator General, Tim Marney.

In September we will host the Premier, Roger Cook, and the Leader of the Liberal Party, Libby Mettam, for important discussions about the future of local industry. It’s a great way for our full members to gain direct access to some of the most important people in the state.

You can see the full schedule of the KIC Insight Series below. There is likely to be more Ministers visiting KIC to meet members throughout the year.

The next Quarterly Round Up for all members will be held later this month which will focus on emergency management preparedness and response. We will have speakers from local government, emergency services, and industry to discuss how we all have a shared responsibility for emergency management. Invitations have been sent so we look forward to seeing you there.

Finally, at the end of August we will be holding the first ever critical incident desktop exercise with DFES and members. The half day exercise will test the preparation, response and recovery capabilities of industry and government and allow us to strive for continuous improvement.

The KIC Board also met in June where our 2024-25 budget was endorsed. I am pleased to report that the KIC is in a strong financial position, allowing us to pursue new opportunities to better support and advocate for members.

The Board also agreed to change my title from Director to Chief Executive Officer as of 1 July 2024. This provides a more modern and contemporary title for the leader of the KIC, and a title that is consistent with the leaders of other peak industry bodies.

I hope you enjoy reading this edition of InFocus, and please do not hesitate to reach out to the team and I if there is anything we can do to help.

We get virtual visitors from around the world and find the different locations very interesting and would appreciate if you could provide your country of origin. In order to stop the Bots, if you could also add your email address. Please note we will not spam you in any way. Thank you!
